Rememberance Poppies at St Mary's Church

Year six visited St Mary’s in Shenley Church End to help them to prepare their church grounds for the Remembrance service. Gill Rees gave the children a fascinating talk about the impact of the war in the village, and we were able to look at the graves of those impacted in the Graveyard, including George Cox - a soldier who fought in WW2 and who lived in Church End.

We then helped to decorate the railings with knitted and crocheted poppies which had been made by the parishioners (over 1000 of them!) It was a wonderful way to bring Remembrance Day to life for our pupils. #care
