Courageous Advocacy
At Christ the Sower, Ecumenical Primary School, we teach our children that they can be agents of change. They are inspired to identify personal, local and global issues that are important to them and encouraged to have the courage to stand up for what is right. Supported by their faith, our pupils independently identify ways to help their community, raising money for causes, donating to food banks, raising awareness, and campaigning for change. Click through our gallery below to view some of the wonderful choices our pupils have taken towards making change.
As a staff team, we are committed to developing citizenship in preparation for life within our local, national and global communities and engaging in social action for change which the children embrace. Our Christian vision and values underpin all of this work as children are nurtured to achieve their full, God given potential in showing support for others in our global Community, they show Respect for everyone, whatever their faith or background, and they Persevere in their efforts to make the world a better place.
While courageous advocacy at CTS goes far beyond fund-raising, pupils, staff, Governors and parents/carers actively support a range of charities locally, nationally and globally; we work tirelessly to make a difference to other peoples’ lives. Charitable organisations supported recently include the local food bank. We also take part in national initiatives for charities such as Children in Need, Comic Relief and Sport Relief.
ODBSST Eco Summit 2024
Every year, the ODBST hold an Eco Summit where schools from the trust meet to share the fantastic Eco projects that they have been running within their schools.
We sent our two Year 6 Eco Warriors chosen to represent our school and they did exceptionally well. After presenting a short speech about the work that the ECO-Warriors have been doing at CTS, they had fun in the afternoon creating ‘seed bombs’ using clay, compost and wildflower seeds. We can’t wait to see them bloom.
Year 4 - fundraiser
Year 4 set an aspirational goal to raise enough money to sponsor an animal for the year. They organised a jumble sale and raised over £100, which they used to sponsor an animal through WWF.
Trash-Mob - Single Use Plastics in the School grounds and on Grange Farm
The children of CTS took on single-use plastics with our first ever #trashmob! Our children loved going litter picking around the local community, and they were shocked at how much single-use plastic they found around our school grounds, local parks and roads.
